Cool fall weather is close to perfect for hiking. Here is a list compiled by Travlin' Light Scott, [edited by yours truly] a Southern Appalachian hiker of the AT, Benton Mackaye, Florida Trail and many others in the Southeast. Scott has a passion for our foot trails and living outside on them that is evident in this well-thought out list. Scott is not what I would classify as a minimalist hiker, but his pack selections emphasize light weight and high quality for their intended purpose - surviving relatively comfortably outdoors.

Scott has covered a lot of ground and found this list represents a practical selection of equipment for the serious hiker out on the trail for a weekend or weeks. Thanks Scott, where ever you are! He printed this list out for me over a year ago when he stopped over on a BMT hike through Northern Georgia to Tennessee.

Roll your mouse cursor over the accompanying link for each item in Scott's list to scope out the suggested equipment at one of the many reputable vendors of Amazon.com. My editing is designated beyond the "[" character in each list item. Amazon has everything the serious hiker needs!
