| Snow in the Aska Adventure Area | |||||||
|
Light snowfall on a switch back trail off the BMT. Daffodils are blooming
in cabin yards a few hundred yards distant.
A few days later the early Spring like temperatures allow work to resume on the cabin porch.
This gentleman started keeping bees last year on the outskirts of Fannin county near the Blue Ridge - Morganton area. As chilly as it is, with Spring around the corner, bee's buzzing certainly reminds us of warmer to HOT weather only a few months ahead. Did you know honey is full of vitamins and minerals? Did you know only the female bees are the ones that work to find nectar and pollen? Did you know that some scientists believe that if honeybees vanished from the planet, so would we? Bees are important to our very survival! Notice the beekeeper's shirt and hat hanging next to the hives. The beekeeper tells me that this is so the bees get used to his scent while he is away from the hive at his day job (in case their memories are short), to help minimize stings from his colony. They do know he is their friend, but they may forget.
