| Songbird Dormitory | |||||||
Here is thumbnail of our our neighbor's decorative College logo birdhouses that, although cute, will likely attract few avian residents, because most songbirds are territorial, requiring some 10 yards of space from another nesting site. Keep this in mind when hanging your birdhouses. Taken with a Canon Digital Rebel XTi 10.1MP Digital SLR Camera with EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 Lens (Black) For a copy of the original digital art, please shoot me, AskaGuide, an email: admin@askaguide.net |

| Woodpecker Holes | |||||||
My friend Dwight and I were discussing how to see great pictures in the most mundane things when his practiced eyes noticed a busy pattern of woodpecker holes in a Bartlett Pear tree in the yard. That tree has been there, likely with these holes in it for several years, and I am embarrased to say I have not noticed this magnificent bird sign before.

| Weathered Bluebird House | |||||||
This bluebird house, nestled in Ficus purnila, or CREEPING FIG, a self-clinging evergreen climber from the Orient, is vacant for the mild Florida winter.For a copy of the original digital art, please shoot me, AskaGuide, an email: admin@askaguide.net A wonderful guide for Florida birds is Smithsonian Handbooks: Birds of Florida (Smithsonian Handbooks) Find out more about Ficus purnila in Trees and Shrubs: Illustrated A-Z of over 8500 Plants This house, slapped together from scrap wood, has a few features of a good birdhouse. I've since found a great (and cheap) book on bird house building, The Complete Book of Birdhouse Construction for Woodworkers |
